科大卫（David Faure），1947年生，普林斯顿大学社会学博士，现为香港中文大学历史系教授，英国牛津大学圣安东尼学院院士。研究方向包括：华南宗族史、中国商业史、香港史、中国地方史。近年正关注山西、江南以及西江地区的历史发展，同时也继续着商业史的研究。在研究中着意于田野调查，在著作中大量使用口述、碑铭、契约等史料，致力于揭示人们在日常生活中所创造出的社会结构，特别是华南地区自宋代以来的文化与社会变迁。
